My go to book rec for people who want to get into reading is Holes by Louis Sachar, because it appeals to all ages, has really short chapters, and is super engaging!

Loving Day by Mat Johnson, The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, Half a Life by Olivia Atwater, Binti by Nnedi Okorafor, Winter’s Orbit by Everina Maxwell, A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers, Mr. Fox by Helen Oyeyemi, No One is Here Except All of Us by Ramona Ausubel, Book of Love by Kelly Link, The Tethered Mage by Melissa Caruso, Orlando by Virginia Wolf, The Passion by Jeanette Winterson, Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. LeGuin

    3. A novel that did this for me was *Siddhartha* by Herman Hesse, which I vouch for almost daily in this sub. It isn’t a long read, nor is it a hard read, but it is deeply insightful and poetically written. It is an absolute joy to read and it really opened my eyes to the joys of literature once more.
