What are your favourite quick reads (think 200 pages or fewer)? It’s for a general interest book club that is almost exclusively made up of moms who have young children. I’m trying to give us something light for December since it’s such a busy time.

This will be our third meeting, so I’m not sure exactly what the vibe of the group is yet. Our first book was The Authenticity Project and we’re currently reading In Five Years by Rebecca Serle.

    1. The Swimmers by Julie Otsuka was a wonderful quick read. Your readers might also speed through books like Convenience Store Woman by Sayata Muraka and Diary of a Void, by Emi Yagi. My Sister the Serial Killer is also very short.

Middle grade reads might be fun for this group too. The Night Diary by Veera Hiranandani and When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead were excellent reads for me as an adult, and tons to discuss.

You may also try some nonfiction where someone can get the idea from the first few chapters, with no pressure to finish. So many good ones! In Defense of Food, by Michael Pollan, Missoula by Jon Krakauer, Poverty by America by Matthew Desmond, Come As You Are by Emily Nagoski. Save Come As You Are for when you have a great group vibe though!

    2. **To Be Taught, If Fortunate** by Becky Chambers

**The Cybernetic Tea Shop** by Meredith Katz

**The Cat Who Saved Books** by Sōsuke Natsukawa
