Looking for a book for my mom, sister and I to book club based on our reading preferences!

My mom is a huge fan of Jane Austen and really enjoys period pieces (especially ones that have a feminist bent). We recently read together Most Ardently, a queer YA remix of Pride and Prejudice. I do enjoy reading romance, and have only ever really appreciated one original Austen work, Northanger Abbey. Overall she is great with the classics and me not so much.

She also loves fantasy, with her favorite authors being Anne McAffrey and Mercedes Lackey. She will devour fantasy romances, though as would be book clubbing it, I would prefer to avoid super spicy books.

My sister and I also have an interest in fantasy, though we tend to skew newer: The Locked Tomb Series, Raybearer, and This is How You Lose the Time War are books we've both read. I actually prefer sci-fi even more. We also love reading queer novels and my mom is open to that as well but rhey don't have to be!

    1. Story of Your Life by Ted Chiang is my all time favorite. Ted Chiang has won a crazy amount of awards.

You should read Tooth and Claw by Jo Walton. It’s like a Jane Austen novel with dragons as the characters.
