Probably a long shot, but on the other hand, this has to exist:
I've recently read the novelization of Beverly Hills Cop 2. For a while (maybe still?), Hollywood Blockbusters got novelizations, even if the book format wouldn't be anyone's first guess for the movie's genre. However, I quite enjoyed that book for what it was: An easy read before bed, fast paced chapters, witty banter – basically exactly what you'd expect.
So I'd like to read more stuff like that. Does explicitly NOT HAVE TO HAVE AN ACTUAL MOVIE MADE OUT OF IT.
I am aware of the plethora of thriller and crime story books, but how the hell do I find original "basically an 80s action movie" books? Have any noteworthy/good ones been written, seeing it's not the prime medium for a very visual genre? Humor is a plus but not a total must; I'm not looking for pure comedy. Law enforcement in the big city is a welcome trope (typically "not by the book") but not a total must. If you know the genre, you'll probably have the right idea already what I mean (other than Beverly Hills Cop, think Lethal Weapon, Miami Vice, To Live & Die in L.A., Escape From New York and so on).
So, any suggestions are more than welcome! Thanks in advance.

Slightly tangent as a 90’s action movie (non-cop though), but Jurassic Park is an excellent book.
lee child’s reacher books might work.
