    Hi everyone!

I’m starting to reconnecting with old hobbies of mine including reading, and reading was something really special when I was younger. I’d spend hours reading non-stop with books like Eragon, Legend, Percy Jackson, Guardians of Ga’Hoole, etc.

Now getting back into reading, I’m trying to find some good fantasy or sci-go books, specifically from the 2010’s and 2020’s. I’m also looking for books that are about 500-700 pages long as a good starting point.

Any recommendations? Feels good to get back into reading again!

    1. The expanse is pretty much exactly to your specifications. Sci-fi books that are written mostly in the 2010’s and all about 500-700 pages.

They are pretty engaging and not very difficult to read, I loved them when I got back into reading.

**For fantasy:** I greatly enjoyed the [Mirror Visitor](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/40969531-a-winter-s-promise) series by Christelle Dabos. It’s an easy but compelling read. If you think you might like something a little spicier, you may enjoy some of Sarah J Maas’s work, particularly the [Court of Thorns and Roses](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/50659467-a-court-of-thorns-and-roses) series (or at least the first three books, which tell a complete story).

**For sci-fi:** The [Red Rising saga](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/15839976-red-rising?ac=1&from_search=true&qid=6Q1Bv44Rla&rank=1) by Pierce Brown is a great one to get back into reading (another one where you could stop after book 3 to get the (first) complete story). [The Locked Tomb](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/42036538-gideon-the-ninth) series by Tamsyn Muir is ongoing but also incredibly compelling.
