Hey, y’all sooo first time posting here; don’t crucify me. Basically, I read this book in middle school but never quite made it to the end and I was hoping one of you, ever-knowledgeable, readers of Reddit mayhaps have an inclination of what the fuck I’m talking about as googling has done me no good. Most of my childhood is a fever dream so the details are pretty hazy but books, cinema, and writing were my greatest escape. The gist is that a middle school- high school age girl suffers from immense pressures at home from her mother. Not only to academically preform at a far above average rate but to be the most perfectly poised person on the rink, as she’s also quite the talented ice skater. The pressures of it all have already began to get to her as we begin the book and so we soon learn she has been cutting herself using a pair of fabric scissors (I think??? Something she carries in her bag to skating that’s pretty dull but obviously sharp enough to break skin) I’m attempts to ease the pain (big reason I related to the book). The only one who seems to notice or care is one of her teachers. She sees her disassociating, beginning to fall behind and eventually sees her bleeding a bit, maybe??? That’s all I’ve got, hopefully this actually posts and lemme know if you’ve got anything:)
