So I love reading mysteries and thrillers and even sometimes horror. However, Im 6 months pregnant now and you’ve ever been pregnant or known someone that was, you know the dreams can get crazy. I started reading The Last House on Needless Street the other day, only made it a few pages in and then that night I had such a bad dream that I woke up gasping..

I really want to keep reading so I’m hoping there’s some suggestions on books that aren’t super creepy but are still mysterious. Or am I just going to have to switch genres until I give birth?

    1. The Enigma of Room 622 by Joël Dicker (translation by Roberto Bononno). It had thrilling aspects, but it was definitely more mystery. Power struggle, love triangle, an author investigating a crime, the setting felt like it’s own character, this book pulled me in and wouldn’t let me go.

The Thursday Murder Club series by Richard Osman.

The Twyford Code by Janice Hallett.

Both are absorbing mysteries with fun characters, but are not scary. Last House is really disturbing, I agree.

    3. Try Lisa Lutz: The Passenger , The Accomplice. They have suspense but not too scary/graphic
