A friend going through a tough time is after audiobook recs. Something uplifting/heartwarming, ideally with a woman protagonist who is thriving and enjoying her freedom without needing anyone else (she doesn't have to be the only character, just that she's not reliant on others). A wild location would be a bonus. Any hint of sexual assault or harm towards children a no-no.

Pippi Longstocking! They’re children’s books but I promise it’s exactly what you’re looking for 🙂 the rest of these are mostly middle grade but honestly they’re still wonderful and it’s hard to find adult books that follow what you describe lol
