Recently watched Greatest Hits and loved it. There is a scene where the present romantic leads of the movie (Lucy Boynton, Justin Min) meet in a record shop, it is a lot of fun. I guess this is what they call "meet cute" in romantic stories. I am looking for a movie with a ton of this.
Making fun of each other, faking cruelty or other negative emotions, etc. Here's a sample:
[After meeting at a support group Harriet and David meet at a record store]
Harriet: You came.
David: Figured I'd come to the rescue.
Harriet:Okay, Batman.
David:[laughs] No, I mean I can at least buy a few records.Do you work here?
Harriet: No. My friend's DJ-ing as a favor. He knows the owner.
David: [Picks up a record] My parents used to listen to this album over and over.
Harriet: It's a classic.
David: And I love how music can do that.
Harriet:What?
David: Pull you back to some moment in time.
Harriet:Yep.
David: Excuse the nostalgia.
Harriet[gestures around]: No, you're standing neck deep in nostalgia.
[They both get interested in that record]
Harriet: Tom, do you have another copy?
Tom: That's a limited edition. We just got the one.
David: I guess it's mine.
Harriet:Do you even have a record player?
David: [chuckles] Yes.
Harriet: Wow. I can't believe you're actually doing this to me.
David: Okay, um…What about joint custody?
Harriet:Of the record?
David:Of the record. If you, um…give me your number, maybe we can discuss
the details of the custody agreement.
Harriet: Oh, we're doing this.
David:Expect a call from my lawyers.
Harriet: Will do,
I am looking for a book which is a series of such meetings before they end up together. Lot of angst and will-they-wont-they. I guess they end up together only at the end.
