This might be a little picky, but thank you to everyone in advance!
A couple months ago I came across a book called 'The London Seance Society' set in 19th century England and France. I really fell in love with the darker aesthetic, and I do enjoy the Victorian setting. What really didn't work for me was the romance turning out to be a lot more of the focus than I first expected.
So my question is: are there any similar 'grim dark' books in a similar setting without the romance? I don't care whether it's realistic or fantasy. Mystery is good. Horror is good, too. Just no (or little) romance. And includes seances, Victorian ghost hunting, gothic vibes, etc
If you have suggestions for Victorian setting books in general, too, they're always welcome!
