Looking for some short stories or novellas about an apocalyptic or dystopian world. Preferably on the short-ish side leaning around or under 20,000 words if possible.
I have a fun idea for a character in a story but it’s not a genre I have really been exposed to much. Usually I read suggestions from friends but no one has read much either so I’m hoping you all might be able to help!

* The author James Tiptree Jr. (Alice Sheldon) has written a lot of short stories and novellas, mostly pretty bleak and dystopian. I most recommend the collection Her Smoke Rose Up Forever which collects many of her longer novellas. * And Then I Woke Up by Malcolm Devlin. A novella I read recently and think about a lot.
* Short fiction by Kameron Hurley. She’s a *very* prolific author of short stories (and a few books) and if you donate to her Patreon you get access to all her short fiction. Besides that, I recommend the anthology Meet Me In the Future which has a lot of sci fi horror and dystopian stories in it. I also liked Apocalypse Nyx, a collection of short stories set in the same unvierse as one of her book series, but I don’t know if it’s good to read on its own without having read the series.
