Can anyone please recommend me some painfully frustrating books where the two characters yearn for each other and just want to be together but for whatever reason cannot seem to. Kinda like Heartless by Marissa Meyer or White nights by Fyodor Dostoevsky. I'm fine with any kind of ending- happy, tragic and with romance being the subplot, even.
(I'd prefer minimal or no smut at all. If any, I want it to fuel the angst rather than simply being included for gratification.)
