Never read much fantasy but fell in love with ASOFI yeara ago.

But I've been struggling to find anything that grabs me like that since.

I've tried The First Law,didn't like Abercrombie's writing style, just seemed so dull compared to Martin's.

Tried Stormlight Archives, but it's way to classical fantasy for my tastes.

I love that ASOFI had limited magic and was more grounded.

Someone point me in the right direction.

The Witcher Series by Andrej Sapkowski

It’s gritty and grounded like ASOIF

I would agree with the suggestion to go for The Witcher series! It’s really amazing and there are enough to keep you busy for a while. Might be a silly question, but have you read The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings? Of all the fantasy series I’ve read, nothing comes close.

The Dandelion Dynasty series by Ken Liu if you want something similar

The Broken Earth trilogy by N.K Jemisin if you want something very different

    4. I’ve never found a close match in the Fantasy genre, but like you it wasn’t so much the traditional Fantasy elements that grabbed me.

The two closest matches I’ve found are both in other genres.

*The Expanse* series by James SA Corey is some fantastic hard sci-fi set in a very recognizable world. GRRM also happens to be a big fan of the series, and I believe consulted on it a bit. 9 books in the main series, plus the same number of short stories which have been collected into a single anthology.

*The Kingsbridge Series* (and most specifically the first two novels in the series, *The Pillars of the Earth* and *World Without End*) are sweeping historical fiction epics set in 12th and 14th Century England respectively. Very grounded with lots of political wrangling, both big and small. The first is set during a period of English Civil War know as “The Anarchy”, following the death of King Henry I without a male heir, and the 2nd is set during the arrival of the Black Death in Europe. Each book is a standalone story that spans an entire generation with a large cast of characters, from the high nobles to the lowly peasants. The common thread between the two (and the rest of the books in the series) is that they are all set in the same fictional town.
