Im looking for books with witty funny dialogues and astute observations. I love David Sedaris, Jenny Lawson, Melissa Nathan. I did love Good Omens and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, but I’m looking for something that isn’t sci-fi . Lucy Score’s Dead Guy Next Door was also good as far as what I’ve been able to find that’s at least a little but funny. Rom com, family dynamics, office life etc any genre is fine. It’s just that I find a lot of rom coms aren’t funny at all and are mostly just roms without the com.

    1. For comedy-horror, Tales from the Gas Station by Jack Townsend

For comedy-mystery, One for the Money by Janet Evanovich

Heartburn by Nora Ephron is one of the funniest books I’ve ever read, closely followed by I Feel Bad About My Neck. Genuine laugh out loud stuff.

Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ’s Childhood Pal, by Christopher Moore.

Pretty much anything by Christopher Moore.

Any of the Chelsea Handler books are hilarious! I don’t know if all of the stories are actually true since some are so unbelievable, but they definitely made me laugh out loud.

The Road Rises by Sarah Dunne. Very funny travel memoir. Empty nester, solo mum looking for Mr Right. Witty, clever writing had me snorting with laughter a lot. Astute observations of people and places. Worth it just for the laughs

    6. Since you’ve already read Good Omens, maybe the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett are of interest. Judging by your post, I’d suggest the Moist books.

    7. Solomon versus Lord series. There are 4 books. Solomon is a lawyer in Miami and is a bit shady. Lord is an uptight by the book lawyer and they have a love hate relationship.

The Black Tide Rising series by John Ringo is about a zombie apocalypse caused by a man made virus. Ringo writes mainly military science fiction but this is set at present time and no sci fi. Great action and a lot of humor.

I saw that you said no science fiction but the funniest thing I have read in a long time is Dungeon Crawler Carl. There are currently six books and I laughed out loud reading them.

Authors who write books I actually ‘laugh out loud’ when reading: Christopher Moore, Yahtzee Croshaw, and the writing duo Delilah S. Dawson/Kevin Hearne.
