Recently got back into reading and I absolutely loved Flowers for Algernon but I’m left heart broken. The last line is still echoing in my head and makes me want to bawl my eyes out every time I think about it. What should I read next? I want something lighthearted but also very interesting. TIA

    1. “Buddha of Suburbia” by Hanif Kureishi has some sentimental moments and is very insightful, and it’s also one of the only books to literally make me laugh out loud the entire time

I really feel you, Flowers for Algernon is one of my all-time favorites that I re-read every few years (I worked in disability services and never wanted to lose sight of why I did the work I did), but it always leaves me emotionally destroyed. Crying for days. Ohhh, that ending.

For a feel-good book after something so emotionally draining, I recommend The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune. The characters are beyond adorable and heart-warming. Plus there’s a sequel that’s going to be released in September.
