Hi, I’m looking for books that would be good for someone I’m close to who through the years has been very neglected with education.

They’re in the foster system now and have to approach public school this fall and they have a lot of anxiety and self-doubt about it. I want them to know they’re not alone in being so behind, or having this struggle. And that it’s not their fault.

They’ve been diagnosed with dyslexia now, so I’m interested in books addressing that as well.

It needs to be not TOO slow or overly wordy. Y/A level might be best, but I’ll look into children’s or adult as well if they’re suggested.
I’ll probably be reading it to them, or at least mostly.

If you have any suggestions please let me know!

These are memoirs. Both author’s faced a rough upbringing, but they had a sincere drive to become educated and successful.
