I'm looking for the books about medieval times in europe, preferably focused on everyday life for people, and church's controversies, as these are the two things I'm mostly interested about. Regarding similar material – I really enjoyed the way that 'History of the Ancient world' was written. I also really liked 'Pentiment' video game, which portrayed everyday medieval life with huge empathy, showing how people across the ages were really similar to us.
I'm kinda torn between wanting to read about controversies and gross/weird facts about reign of medieval church, actual facts from the lives of saints etc, and life of everyday people. Maybe someone could recomment a couple of books regarding these two topics. Something focused on lives of women would be amazing too!
