Free on Kindle through 10/29/2023: Quantum Timeline by Bill Yancey
Not sure is these fit, but my two all time faves with multiple reads:
The Black Company series by Glen Cook
A Man of His Word series by Dave Duncan.
Both fantasy. A Man of His Word has one of the coolest and unique takes on magic.
I haven’t read these books, but it sounds like you may like something by Becky Chambers or TJ Klune. They aren’t strictly YA but they have good characters, found family tropes, and world building I think you’ll enjoy
