Hi there! I’m new here and I hope I can get some help. My mom passed in March of 2022. She and my dad were married for 31 years. He is not my biological but 100% my dad. Even during their break ups before they married he would spend time with me. He is truly my best friend but lives 3,000 miles away.
My mom and I were (are) avid readers. I’ll read just about anything. My mom loved mysteries. My dad didn’t read much. The only book I remember him reading was “Angela’s Ashes”. He’s full Irish. I remember him throwing the book he got so mad.
He is a home body. He and my mom did everything together. My mom’s health was horrible. During Covid, she was in a rest home. He made all her meals, dropped them off and would sit at the window on the phone so they could eat together. He’s been struggling.
He told me he’s been reading her books. He doesn’t enjoy the mysteries but is loving to read. I’d like to send him something but need ideas. He’s in his mid 70s. He’s your typical big, burly guy, with a huge heart. I’d love suggestions.
