I'm trying to get back into reading and want recommendations of some books that are just enjoyable to read – nothing extremely dramatic, action packed etc. the best way i could describe it is a book that gives off the same feeling as watching a sitcom like friends or modern family (but doesn't have to be funny). bonus points if it has beautiful prose!

If you’re open to very long books, I recommend [The Hands of the Emperor](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/af2bba9c-8f41-4a3e-b87a-8532a44ccb67) by Victoria Goddard! It’s a beautifully written slice of life book about the personal secretary to the emperor of the world, with a heavy focus on platonic relationships.
Remarkably Bright Creatures
Nathan Lowell has a series called the Trader Tales. It starts out with “Quarter Share”. It’s a very comforting read. It’s not overly complex or anything. It feels like a warm blanket or a cup of hot cocoa on a cold day.
If you’re feeling a bit more like a good laugh – Try Christopher Moore – “A Dirty Job” or “Lamb”. Warning: please don’t read Lamb if you’re overly sensitive to religion topics. Otherwise it’s still one of the funniest books ever.
All Creatures Great and Small.
Legends and lattes is probably one of the most comforting feeling books I’ve read, orc opens a coffee shop and gains a found family
What You Are Looking For Is in the Library by Michiko Aoyama.
The Miracles of the Namiya General Store by Keigo Higashino
A psalm for the wild built
I capture the castle
The Corfu trilogy by Gerald Durrell
Anything by Becky Chambers.
A Boy of Good Breeding by Miriam Toewes. It’s about a very small town on the Canadian prairies where a bunch of quirky people are doing their best. The mayor is desperately trying to get his town population to an exact number so he can meet the Prime Minister, so every day he makes the rounds, panicking if someone moves in or has a baby and no one else has moved away.
