I'm drawn to novels in natural settings with eloquent prose describing the landscape, flora, fauna, etc. I'm also stuck at home recovering and need some brain-candy page-turning fun. A compelling fast-paced plot is a must or else I'm going to DNF.
Books that have hit the mark for me in the past: Snow Falling On Cedars, Poisonwood Bible, Prodigal Summer, Where The Crawdads Sing, East of Eden.
(I also do a good bit of sci fi but I haven't read any bio-sci-fi that I've really enjoyed, but open to suggestions.)
