I'm not exactly sure how to describe this or if there's a better term for it. I'm looking for books that talk about different destinations, places to visit, things to see in certain regions, etc. I'd love one with images and different facts of those places, maybe some history.

For pictures you want DK Eyewitness Travel or Insight Guide series. Both cover local history and trivia as well as being a modern day travel guide.
Lonely planet is good too but doesn’t have pictures if I recall correctly.
You also might like The Time Travellers Guide to… series. The basically pick a period in history, like medieval England, and frame it like the travel guides I mentioned above so you can learn about the culture, how people lived, and some local sights of the time.
