Hello, I am looking for some recommendations of books where the main character embarks on a physical journey and learns stuff about themselves along the way, maybe one which has found family trope. Do you have any recommendations or favorite books centered on a journey? (aside from LOTR)

Hmm not sure if this is exactly what you’re looking for, but **Project Hail Mary** by Andy Weir is about a really funny, nerdy dude who wakes up alone on a spaceship with no memory of who he is or why he’s in a spaceship. He definitely learns along the way, and there is most definitely a found-family angle.

But it’s lighter on the self-discovery side. He doesn’t have to face old trauma he’s been hiding from or come to grips with what he’s lost. It’s more of an epic but pretty hilarious adventure that will renew your faith in the potential of mankind. Temporarily, anyway.

A Short Walk Through a Wide World. The entire book is a literal physical journey and I really enjoyed how it ended.

    3. If you’re ok with a nonfiction, Maiden Voyage by Tania Aebi is her account of sailing around the world at 18 years old.  At the time, she was the youngest woman to do so.
