Fictions where the characters have contact with the divine, but not in a lame way

I recently listened to a history podcast in which the hosts talked about how every aspect of prehistoric life was absolutely violent and embedded in religion/rituals/myths, and that fascinated me.

Do y’all got any suggestions of fictions where the characters have contact with the divine, but not in a “I prayed and God listened” way, more of a “I had a vision in which Venus wants me to lead my tribe to victory” way?

Would be even better if it’s in a prehistoric setting.
