I'm a person who was reluctantly shoved into a leadership role a couple years back. I'm finally giving in to the "how to be a leader" self-help books. But the last 3 I read somehow forced the idea of religion into them (Brene Brown, John Maxwell, Stephen Covey). Are there any good ones that don't have a subtle or not-so-subtle commercial for, or reliance on, religion?

My go to recommendation is always:
The Leader Lab by Tania Luna and Leeanne Renninger. It’s a more workshop style book so each chapter is a skill such as communication, delegation, etc. It gives role play examples of what (and what not) to do and is one of the best books ive ever read.
I like Sun Tzu Art of War as a leadership template. The whole thing, but even the prologue thing where Sun Tzu leads the concubines in drill practice, has great lessons in it.
