This is kind of niche, but I LOVE the vish puri detective series by tarquin hall. I love that it’s an elaborate mystery, but it isn’t in any way scary, and you are along for the ride with the detective. I also love that the detectives/operatives are on the ground looking for clues and figuring things out themselves. This series is so entertaining and I was wondering if anyone knows of detective books that are at all similar
