Let me start with a short introduction.

While i have read some "adult" books before, mainly from andreas eschbach(a german author), i have found myself enjoying light novels more. Yet with time things changed and as i got older i found myself no longer enjoying such predictable depth lacking literature. Dont get me wrong there are a few which i still find very enjoyable, it just doesn't hit the spot anymore.I feel like I have graduated from reading light novels and can finaly tackle reading some good old fashioned books like god intended.

Now as a complete newbe im wondering, what books are actually worth it and fairly beginner friendly.

I dont want to read some culturaly important books that one might find oneself forced to read in school but some actually entertaining story(not that both is impossible).

What i would enjoy reading: a fairly fast paced development, something to read before going to sleep, a psychological story, existential horror beyond comprehension, action.

I would appreciate if you could recommend me a few titles with a short summary.
