Hi sub! I’m an author in progress working on my manuscript and wanting to read both my would-be contemporaries/potential comp titles. I’ve read all kinds of tentpole fantasy classics, but my knowledge of the more midsized, fresher faces is pretty poor — and I’m hoping you can make up for that. I tried my local librarian but she wasn’t super helpful…
Anyway, here’s the specs I’m looking for: an adult-fantasy series that’s an adventure/journey through a magical world tackling themes of power, friendship, and loyalty. Bonus points if there are gods living among men and subversions of the chosen one trope. Female protagonists are preferred, but not required. Also, it should ideally have been published within the last 5 years.
Hopefully that isn’t toooo narrow! Appreciate any help y’all can offer!
