I recently saw something online that said you should freeze used/thrifted books for a few days to kill any bugs that might be living inside. I buy most of my books used but haven't had any issues with bugs (knock on wood). Is this something that I should be doing or are people being overly cautious? Have you had any infestation issues with used books? I also read some people suggest wiping them down with disinfecting wipes, maybe vinegar. I assume this would be safe for most covers.
Are there any other precautions I should be taking? My books are precious to me but they're not antiques and do not have much of a resale value so I'm not worried about keeping them at museum standards with the perfect humidity or anything like that, but I would like to take basic precautions to make sure they last.
