(Other than A Little Life), I need a book where the character's life is so bad that it seems like their life must be a practical joke-from-the-universe-bad. Like, no one could have as much bad luck and bad things happen to them in one lifetime. So much it feels they are living under a curse (and maybe they are?) Any genre is fine. Fiction or non.
