I'm looking for books that blow me away. I can't read what feels like the 18th slow dark romance fantasy novel (just because tictoc says I should like it …).
So that you can imagine in which direction I mean and what the last "grandiose" books were that I couldn't put down and simply blew me away (quasi my highlights of the last 10 years)
- Patrick Rothfuss – The Kingkiller Chronicles
- George RR Martin – A Song of Ice and Fire
- Ernest Cline – Ready Player One
- Richard Morgan – Altered Carbon
- Frank Schätzing – Limit
- Andreas Eschbach – Lord of All Things
- Kai Meyer – Die Seiten der Welt (sorry don't know the English title)
Genre I'm looking for: Fantasy / Science Fiction (whether for young adults or adults) – Romance is also allowed, but please a plot that surprises me and not the next copy of 50 Shades with werewolves, princes, vampires or mafia bosses.
And if it's a saga: something finished or regularly published, please. My heart can't take a third longing for a sequel (besides ASOIAF and Kingskiller Chronicles).
