I know there is only one Dicamillo, but I adore her. I can’t find any author that’s similar to her in stories or style. Any suggestions (authors and/or books)?
It depends on which of her books you’re referring to. She has quite a range, so there are several authors that have aspects of her work. I agree she’s just so good no matter what she writes! Some of her books have an EB White feel. Katherine Applegate has some books in the same vein. We love her humor and have found other funny writers to follow up post-Tales from Deckawoo Drive and Flora & Ulysses (an all-time favorite). We literally have lines we quote from her books, like every time my son asks me for toast “with a great deal of butter,” just like Mercy Watson.
