I’m going to preface this by saying I hate self help books. Ones like subtle art of not giving a fuck and rich dad poor dad. The ones I’ve read are just basic common sense presented like revolutionary ideas, and they always read so condescending as well, like great you said fuck on the front cover you’re so cool and edgy
But I do like an inspirational book. I like an autobiography that you can take things from and apply them to your own life and situation. I have Obama’s autobiography on my backlog that I think is going to be quite good for that. Another example is I picked up this book about someone’s time spent travelling somewhere I don’t remember, I found that quite motivating and inspirational and did some travelling because of what I read in that book.
This is a hard type of book to find though. It’s like a self help book without the preachy condescending “if you set up a business, you’ll make money” kind of “help” you usually find in self help books. It’s more reading about people’s experiences and how they did things or what they’ve done in their lives and taking bits and pieces from that. Has anyone got any ideas for books that fit that kind of description?
