The title is a bit ironic, playing off of Pierre Menard (any other Borges fans?), but the question I’m asking isn’t all that complex.
In his writings, Borges often references different authors, books, philosophers, religions, etc.
I would love to reach a point where I could understand all of most of Borges’s references, but I don’t know where to start. What are some books I could read so I can better understand Borges other than Borges himself? I know he references Schopenhauer a lot, so that’s on the list, but his references seem to span so wide across literature and culture in general.
