I love horror movies, and I love to read. But I've never actually read any horror novels. I mostly love historical dramas, young adult fantasy novels, and some of the more popular young adult series over the last ten plus years. I loved hunger games and divergent. Side note… Unpopular opinion I know… But I did not like the twilight series. I really didn't even have an interest in reading it at all. I didn't read it until just before the last movie came out, breaking Dawn part two. I only read it because everyone was freaking out over it and it was so popular so I gave it a shot. I thought it was long and boring. Their relationship took an entire three books to come about. It wasn't an interesting read at all. It was so boring to me that it just felt like it took forever to get through. And then when I found out that the entire ending never actually happened I was just done at that point. So stupid.

Anyways…. As I was saying… I've never read horror books and I am a huge horror movie fan. So… Any suggestions for good horror books?

Edit: I really love historical dramas most of all. Both historically accurate and fictional. Especially the time of the tudors and other monarchs. But basically anything from the 1100s to the 1800s but specifically 1500-1800.

So if anyone knows of some good historical horrors… I'd love to dig into them! But any good horrors from any time period is fine.

Stephen King seems like the most obvious answer. Try the shining or it, these are usually considered his best.
