So I’ve been on the waiting list at my library for this book since early summer. I was convinced I must have missed my hold pickup call or something and asked about it the other day, learned I’m finally third on the list. Visited my grandmother this week who gave me cash for my birthday (I turned 36, gotta love grandmas!) and stopped at a bookstore on the way home to buy it. Read it yesterday.

No one told me it has such sexiness! Lots of hot stuff going on. Now I am convinced this is why the library line is taking so long: people must be reading those chapters twice 😉

Overall I really enjoyed it. I do wish it could all just be one huge book (really loved this about Priory of the Orange Tree, which was the other book I bought with my bday money; read and loved it recently so much I wanted to own it).

Fourth Wing did have several overused phrases throughout which became jarring, and a few plot points/holes that were glossed over but generally it feels like a solid setup for a good story and I’m saving the gift receipt I got so I can return it and exchange for the next book when it comes out early November.

If you read and loved the Scholomance series, you’ll like this.

Also, “kids these days” have it so good. I remember reading stuff like the Robber Bride and Outlander when I was 12 and I wish there was more stuff like this back then that would have been a better middle ground. I remember the YA shelf being literally one bookshelf. So happy to see how things are changing.

    1. There definitely wasn’t a lot of good YA to choose from when I was in middle school and high school. I pretty much jumped from wholesome kids books about horses into the adult fantasy realm. “Fourth Wing” is a fantastic book for sure.
