So I’m finally trying to revive my love for reading as school basically destroyed it, I really do want to get back into reading, through my movie watching and game playing I know I love fantastical elements, and lots of action. An ideal fantasy book for me would be something a little grounded but still have magic and lots of monsters in it. Something stand alone since it’ll be my first book in a while and if there’s a book that has everything from intense action, to betrayal, to romance, to great character and world building it would be perfect for me. If you have any suggestions on what genre of fantasy or just books in general I should look to or have genuine book recommendations that would be great, I love medieval elements too so staying in that region of the world would be ideal.

If you’d be ok with a duology, maybe [Clocktaur War](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/c55afb47-00fd-4010-b363-223a489c83f6) by T. Kingfisher?
**Uprooted by Naomi Novik** – A young woman confronts dark magic in an enchanted forest with the help of a reclusive wizard.
**The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien** – A hobbit embarks on an unexpected journey to help dwarves reclaim their homeland from a dragon.
**Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman** – An ordinary man discovers a hidden, magical London beneath the city he knows.
**A Deadly Education by Naomi Novik** – In a magical school where survival is key, a powerful sorceress navigates deadly challenges and dark alliances.
**Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke** – Two rival magicians strive to bring magic back to 19th-century England with vastly different approaches.
I’d suggest the Sandman Slim series by Richard Kadrey. You might enjoy those.
