This book owned me last year and I still think about it all the time. I think it might be the most ‘adult’ book I’ve ever read, the prose is simply undeniable and the core message resists being pinned down.
There is a scene I still think constantly about, where Nathan speaks to Carol and we are told of the things she “didn’t” say as though it were the real story.
It seems like Roth was a fairly unique writer but can anybody suggest books that might scratch a similar itch?
