I’ve been going down a loop of The Last of Us, lately, and after re-reading *The Road*, I’ve decided I’d like to read more post-apocalyptic genre novels *but* with a female main character.

I’d love if the story were focused on a teen girl, but I’m not picky.

Same as for genre: outside of it being set in a post-apocalyptic world, I’m fine with everything else, including YA.

Dies the Fire by S.M. Stirling. If I remember correctly one of the two main characters is a woman.

Time to Play by Erin Ampersand. It’s a great book. It’s LitRPG which may be helpful to know before picking it up.

Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews and Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison are Urban Fantasy Romance novels. I’m not generally a romance reader, these two stand up just fine on everything else. Neither has total societal collapse IIRC.

    2. After the Flood by Kassandra Montag it’s a quite good read with a female MC; not a teen though, is an adult woman and mother, surviving in a flooded world with her young daughter, trying to track down her first child taken away by the father

Do you distinguish between post-apocalyptic and dystopian?

I have some dystopian YA recommendations:
      – *Hunger Games* by Suzanne Collins
      – *Divergent* by Veronica Roth
      – *Scythe* by Neal Shustermann (multiple MCs, one is female)
      – the *Broken* trilogy by L.A.Weatherly
      – *Angel* trilogy also by L.A.Weatherly
      – *Matched* by Allie Condie
