I love the fantsy genre, but as I've moved politically further towards the left it can get kind of depressing to see how conservative a lot of the tropes and ideas in these books are. I'd love some recommendations for books that subvert these tropes. Hopefully adult books, not kid's or YA. Books by authors of color especially would be very appreciated.
My hope is that there are fantasy books that are legitimately radical. Apart from politics I am also aways looking for fantasy books that are just really interesting and play with the genre in new and exciting ways.
