I read mainly fantasy, science-fiction, horror and any crossover of the three. Wanted to try to challenge myself this year by reading outside of my comfort zone!
Looking for suggestions of some of your favorites in speculative, thriller, short stories, etc! Also looking for middle grade suggestions for breaks between some of my heavier subject matters.
The only thing I’m not overly interested in is any of the spicy romance books. Something cute would be nice, but I’m pretty romance avoidant so low on the spice and dark romance please lol.

The Fool series (Fool, The Serpent of Venice, and Shakespeare for Squirrels), by Christopher Moore.
The Hour I First Believed, by Wally Lamb.
Watership down, blackhawk down, the Yiddish Policemans Union, the last of the mohicans, and The Aubrey Maturin series are some of favorites that’s aren’t sci fi or fantasy.
