I recently read David Van Reybroucks „Against Elections” and was absolutely thrilled by it. I know it doesn’t deliver a cure for all of democracies problems, but his writing style straight up amazed me. He explains things in a very simple, but yet exciting and even funny, entertaining way. It sparked my interest in politics again after not being able to deal with the topic for quite a while because I've experienced "world-weariness" and political reluctance due to the things being the way they are.

Anyway, I'm now looking for books that can help me educate on "why the world today is the way it is", if that makes sense. The topic really doesn’t matter, as long as the writing style is entertaining and informative, but not worded too scientific.

    Thanks in advance!
