The one that you liked/loved, but you’d probably never re-read. I personally felt “The Kite Runner” scarred me forever. I absolutely loved the book but I shudder at the thought of trying to read it again or watch the movie adaptation of the same.

Octavia E. Butler, Parable of the Talents. It’s brutal, particularly the description of slavery.
A Fine Balance.
Nineteen Eighty-Four
I couldn’t finish it as it was keeping me up at night thinking about it.
[This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/228244.This_Way_for_the_Gas_Ladies_and_Gentlemen) is incredibly well written, and also perhaps the most upsetting book I’ve ever read, even by the standards of literature about the Holocaust. That top review on Goodreads is a good description of the experience (one of the best Goodreads comments I’ve seen, actually).
