I love reading about the political journey of countries. I am looking for a book similar to India After Gandhi : Ramchandra Guha but for Pakistan's political and military journey.
A quick snippet on India After Gandhi to help you decide your suggestion:
- It is a huge book that follows the Indian political journey from a little before Gandhi's death till the early 2000s. This beautifully highlights the struggles and growing pain of a new country.
- Though it focusses mainly on the central government but it highlights important events that took place at different parts of the country and how it shaped it.
- It is fairly unbiased , though may seem a bit sympathetic to Nehru and Nehruvian politics .
- Another, important criteria is the writer is well respected and has a lot of experience.
Looking forward to your suggestions. Do suggest other novels (fiction or non fiction) if you do not have any similar books for Pakistan.
