I recently read this book and the story of the MC has stayed with me.
I think I appreciated him as emotionally tortured from a traumatic collective event, like battle, that had negatively effected everyone in his world. He was making the best of life, but was no longer a believer in causes, religious or political, but for love of family and way of life.
Do you have other suggestions that are of a similar theme?
I'd prefer set in Scotland, Ireland, Wales. Even Canada, NZ, or Europe. Not really invested in US or England right now (read so much of these countries already).
I have been on a fictional rabbit hole surrounding Culloden battle in '45.
I've just finished 'An Honourable Thief 1715' , but I didn't care enough about the quest the MC went on, which was a shame. Although I liked the exploration of friendship, family and change of life view.
Just thought I'd put it out there, thank you in advance.
