Looking for a fantasy book in the vein of a Song of Ice and Fire

English is not my first language so hope you all understand.

I'm looking for a good epic fantasy book that is similar to game of thrones with politics , backstabbing and awesome characters. But ideally without any elves , dwars or similar races. any suggestions ?
