Books for someone trying to read outside of the horror genre.

Pretty much what the title says! I used to read a lot when I was younger but stopped until fairly recently though I’ve really only read horror since I’ve gotten back into reading.

I’d like to explore other genres and types of books (fantasy, sci-fi, etc.). I’m okay with dystopian or books with darker/mature themes as long as they are not intended to be horror.

If it helps at all, some horror media I’ve liked has been Earthlings by Sayaka Murata and The Drifting Classroom.

Some things outside of horror I like have been Circe and The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. Also, The Metamorphosis.

I’m okay with Greek mythology inspired stuff but I’m kinda sick of it though I wouldn’t mind a book inspired by Norse or other mythologies. I don’t really have much a reference for non-horror books as you can tell lol.

If anything, I’d like something with a strong premise. Thank you and sorry for the yapping 😔🙏
