Im writing to post online. In hindsight, i never really read any fantasy novels despite wanting to write a fantasy novel. Most books ive read has been urban fantasy/ sci fi/ dystopian. I know you need to read broadly else you end up copying others, but then again if you never really experienced fantasy novels before how else are you gonna know the narrative flow, system, or other intricacies that make books of the genre tick?

Ive tried kingkiller but the first 50 page of the firsy book i found was extremely slow and boring

    1. *Mistborn* series by Brandon Sanderson starts rather quickly and is easy to read. It’s a trilogy, but the first book has a fairly self-contained ending. For something more serious by Sanderson, you might consider *The Stormlight Archive*.
Alternatively, there’s *The Hobbit* if you’re looking for a classic, also easy to read but less action-packed.
