Currently have been reading more romance and fantasy, but want to dip my toes back into the scifi genre. I love anything Scalzi writes and have enjoyed Douglas Adams as well. Who are authors that really take the scifi genre and spin it on its head the way these two do and give the reader tons of whimsical books that make me laugh and not feel too overwhelming with world building (some world building is clearly fine as it’s part of scifi, but nothing Dune level)?
