I just finished Demon of Unrest by Erik Larson and have a civil war itch. I'd like to learn more about the war and Lincoln but everything is so long – I get bored with tons of detail about curtains and dresses.
Fiction or non- fiction would work.
I did read killer angels and Lincoln by Gore Vidal.

*Battle Cry of Freedom: The Civil War Era* by James McPherson. Commit to just 100 pages per week, and it’ll take less than nine weeks. It’s the best, most comprehensive, single book on the subject. After that, you’re talking about multi-volume sets.
